About the Teachers
 

Mira and Shyam Mehta, sister and brother, have studied yoga since childhood with BKS Iyengar and annually attended his Institute in India.Working closely with their late mother, Silva, they have won international acclaim in the field of Yoga. Their pictures appeared in 1991 on Government of India stamps depicting Yoga postures. Their long involvement in the subject gives them a deep understanding, which is transmitted in their teaching.

 

Mira graduated in Anthropology and Linguistics from London and has a Masters degree in Sanskrit and Indian Religion from Oxford. She is currently pursuing further studies in Yoga philosophy, Ayurveda and Sanskrit. She is a teacher of international standing and regularly travels and teaches world-wide. She was recognised for her work in the field of alternative health by an entry in the Best of British Women yearbook 1993. Her books on Yoga are highly regarded.

 

Shyam is a Cambridge Mathematics graduate and follows a full time professional career as an actuary and financial economist, advising major institutions around Europe. He balances this with Yoga teaching and studies in Yoga philosophy.
Krishna S. Arjunwadkar, the contributor of many articles on The Yogic Path website, is an award-winning scholar of Sanskrit from India. He studied in a traditional Sanskrit academy till the age of 17, when he transferred to the modern educational system. He won a prestigious Sanskrit scholarship of all-India importance and worked for the Government of India Sanskrit Commission. He has taught Sanskrit and classical Indian subjects in schools, colleges and universities in India and at the University of British Columbia, Canada. He is also a specialist in Marathi linguistics. He was Professor of Marathi at Bombay University.
